Bespoke CAD models

I create unique timber frame structures, the structural backbone of your project and for all projects I will produce detailed 3D CAD model to help visualise your ideas. I can provide this as a standalone service or with the full design and build package. Viewing your project in 3D enables you to refine design decisions early in the process and supports the development of an accurate quotation. A detailed CAD model can also assist with planning applications, structural calculations and the preparation of any necessary 2D drawings or elevations.

Frame Design

During the frame design process, I will often follow established solutions and layouts that medieval timber frame carpenters developed centuries ago. The knowledge they had was very comprehensive and successful, much of which is still applicable to the structures of today.

Detailed Structural Joinery

Often when designing a frame we utilise joinery methods that have been proven over hundreds of years, but sometimes we need to design custom joints to resolve the structural puzzle! Combining my engineering knowledge and traditional timber framing experience, I can find a joinery solution for your project. Any custom solutions can be detailed in CAD to your structural engineer so they fully understand how they function!
